Samsung Electronics procurement system implementation

Project period2024.04 ~ 2025.10

Background

Global supply chain uncertainty and tighter ESG regulations increased the need for visibility and data-driven decisions. Integrated management was required for early risk detection, improved cost and inventory control and broader global sourcing.

Separate standards and systems across divisions limited data consistency and timely decisions. The project established integrated supply chain management, stronger risk response, advanced procurement processes and a purchasing information control tower for enterprise-wide operations.

Scope

  • Data architecture and standardization
  • DBA
  • Data Migration
  • Database tuning

Implementation

1. Data architecture and standardization:

We integrated and refined design and solution dictionaries into one standard, established metadata-based management and checked consistency between ERDs and metadata systems to align designs with actual database structures.

2.DBA :

We established user-type roles and access controls, monitored storage and optimized autovacuum for stability. Policies tailored to PostgreSQL/EDB maintained reliable operations and storage efficiency.

3. Data migration:

We performed the full ETL process to cleanse, transform and load operational data into the target structure. Migration strategies accounted for phased launches and permitted downtime, prioritizing quality, deadlines and efficient management for a stable transition.

4. Database tuning:

We analyzed execution plans and optimized SQL for EDB's cost-based optimizer. EDB hints and CTE improvements increased processing efficiency and environmental stability.

Results and expected benefits

A standard framework for previously scattered supply chain and purchasing information, supported by metadata-based management, secured consistency. Standards across design, development and operation structurally improved data quality.

Phased migration strategies and stabilization processes ensured a reliable transition to next-generation systems. Database permissions and performance optimization improved operational stability and efficiency.

This enabled supply chain visibility and integrated purchasing information, strengthening data-driven decision support and enterprise-wide operations.
